Revelation 17:14 "They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings---and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers."
Revelation 1:9-20 1. What would it take to be the kind of person that can receive revelation? Everyone in that part of the world who knew Jesus Christ also knew who John was. John meant "Yahweh is Gracious." John was believed to be the youngest of the disciples. He held tightly to his posittion as brother and companion even in his isolation. (v9) "Companion" - Greek "sygkoinonos" It's koinania-plus. The word means "walk together to" - it means we are OF one onother - Jesus' blood flowing through our veins. During this time, we must get rid of all the rib issues and stand together on the spine issues.
NKJV v9. "in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ." Idea behind it: Those of us in Christ are translated from tribulation to kingdom bliss and the meantime calls for patience.
If you want to be Kingdom revelators, we will have to have patience.
2. v.10 He could be found in worship and "in the Spirit" when no one was looking. No one was there having church with him. Many scholars believe he was in a trance-like state. Others say he made a decision to be crucified to the flesh (we only live in the Spirit when we make a decision to not default to the flesh but be willing to be crucified to it). Make the decision to walk in the Spirit when no one is looking.
3. He had a history of allowing his former conceptions of Christ to be altered. If we are still drawing breath on this earth, we cannot know Him completely. We have to be willing to be changed and altered by Him EVERYDAY. Sometimes we can let loyalty talk us out of a new revelation.
The various revelations John had along the way could be loosely categorized like this: Day to day encounters "Who is this?" moments Luke 8:25 If we are going to grow in Christ it is imperative that we have times when suddenly He breaks the mold of what we thought of Him and all at once we realization He's bigger than we imagined. A moment of transfigurationTimes when God takes us off alone to a time when He has been totally transfigured before us. We totally know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God but He IS GOD! Revelations of His sufferingA moment of clarity when we realize how much Jesus suffered. (John was at the foot of the cross with Mary, mother of Jesus The sight of glorification Jesus in all His glory. John was able to see Jesus in all His glory which we cannot until Heaven. Revelation 1:17 - "fell at His feet as though dead." There is a connection between Revelation and Death (Exodus 20:19 is one place) Word Biblical Commentary "The lethal dangera that must be faced in the quest for divine revelation can be overcome by divine intervention." It is a Holy thing - and we don't get that! It is a Holy thing when Jesus Christ goes out of His way to make sure we know that it was Him. 45
